G2G4 (Gate to Gate Quartet) features vocalist/composer/lyricist Paula Jeanine Bennett’s dynamic new song cycle. These compositions are inspired by the architecture of Fes and Meknes, Morocco, and specifically the gates of these ancient cities. This song cycle had its genesis two years ago at Dar Bennis, a historic home in the Medina of Fes, where Paula was artist in residence at the American Center. The current catastrophic earthquake in Morocco makes Paula’s vision even more vital: the essential value of architecture as repository of story. Paula’s songs for G2G4 are infused with jazz, Andalusian and narrative elements.

A zestful ensemble brings these songs to life with soul and finesse: Fred Berman (bass), Mark Katsounis (percussion) and Richard X Bennett (keyboard).
