As part of our growing collaboration with Columbia’s Core Curriculum, Undergraduate Community Initiative (UCI), and Earl Hall Center for Religious Life, we are thrilled to announce that we are now accepting applications for our new course on dialogue and civic practice. This class will be open to undergraduate students in CC, GS, and SEAS as a 1-credit course in Fall 2025 and Spring 2026, respectively.
About the course
Why does talking across divides sometimes feel so impossible these days? We will explore this critical question by examining the history of polarization, the role of universities in civic life, and the personal dynamics that often make dialogue challenging yet essential to the maintenance of democracy. In this class, we will engage with case studies, films, and dialogue exercises, and practice real-world repair through participating in the Listening Tables program.
Eligibility: Undergraduate students in CC, GS, and SEAS.
