The Office of Religious Life has two openings for program associate positions. Undergraduate or graduate students who are work study eligible and interested in supporting interfaith programming are encouraged to apply. The Earl Hall Center for Religious Life serves the diverse religious and spiritual needs of Columbia’s communities, so that religion and learning may go hand in hand and character grow with knowledge. The Earl Hall Center exists as a part of University Life, an office focused on enhancing the student experience across Columbia’s 17 schools and colleges.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Programming, this part-time program associate position combines program execution, logistical support, administrative work, and communications within the context of the Earl Hall Center for Religious Life, Columbia University. It is designed to support the work of the multi-faith programs at Columbia including Sacred Music, yoga classes, Multi-faith Fellowship, Baccalaureate Service, orientation events, and other one-off initiatives.

Working closely with the Assistant Director for Programming, Sacred Music Coordinator, and other members of the Religious Life team, the program associate will work on several key projects, including one of more or the following:

Responsibilities

  • Events and Programs – support programs and events hosted by the Earl Hall Center including set-up/clean up and assistance during events; assist developing, planning, and executing events; prepare and create materials for meetings and events
  • Sacred Music – support Sacred Music program including in person and live-stream assistance
  • Communications – design, revise and update communications and advertising materials including email campaigns, event graphics, documents, videos, as well as post flyers around campus
  • General Office Support – maintain office organization, support filing projects, reception support, supply inventory
  • Data Entry – input event and meeting data into various data tracking systems
  • Projects – support staff on various projects related to the overall mission of the EHC

Additional Information

  • Weekday evening availability (6-9pm) is required for this position
  • Associates can expect to work approximately 10 hours/week throughout the semester, more hours expected at peak times at the start and end of the semesters
  • Candidate will work on location in Earl Hall and St. Paul’s Chapel, Morningside campus, with remote opportunities

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work flexible hours. Evening hours required.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively on a team as well as work independently
  • Strong communication skills and commitment to the position
  • Respect for services in houses of worship is essential.
  • Candidate must be in good standing with the University.
