As members of a university community we can support one another during times of tragedy. We are heartbroken by the loss of Tessa Majors. Yet we are not alone in responding to the loss, grief, confusion, fear, and pain. To help provide spaces for community and healing, the following religious resources are available:
- The auditorium of Earl Hall is available today (Thursday) and Friday, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., for all students, faculty and staff to be in community with one another. Staff from Counseling and Psychological Services and Religious Life Advisers will be present, and all are invited to come and go from the space during these hours.
- Saint Paul’s Chapel will be open from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. tonight for anyone who would like a quiet place to sit, pray and reflect.
- You are invited to gather with Barnard/Columbia students, faculty and staff tonight at 7:00 p.m. in the Event Oval on the lower level of the Diana Center for words of remembrance and to be together in community.
- At 7:30 p.m. tonight, Columbia will mark a moment of silence in remembrance of Tessa. The Saint Paul’s Chapel bell will ring, and we invite the community to join us in a moment of silence.
You are also invited to attend any of the regularly held religious services below:
- Shabbat Services: Friday, 4:10 p.m. Orthodox and 6:00 p.m. Conservative, at the Kraft Center
- Catholic Mass: Friday, 8:00-8:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church
- Jummah Prayers: Friday at 12:00-12:45 p.m. and also 1:00-2:00 p.m. in Earl Hall Auditorium
