Ramadan this year will be April 23-May 23, which will coincide with more than a week of classes, study days, finals, and commencement. Students who will have class during iftar time and want to ask their professors for an accommodation during finals are highly encouraged to reach out to their professors now, at the start of the semester. Maghreb time comes in at 7:45 PM and Maghribain comes in at 8:00 PM on April 23. These times will get later by around one minute every day.
Iftars, the evening meals during Ramadan, will be held in the Earl Hall auditorium Monday - Thursday and in one of the dining halls on Fridays while students are on campus. A full schedule of iftars will be sent out before Ramadan starts. An additional Commencement iftar will be held on Wednesday, May 20 at 7 pm. Suhoor will be available through Columbia Dining at JJ’s Place and Barnard Dining at Hewitt.
Taraweeh prayers will be offered every night in Earl Hall starting Sunday, April 23 from 9:30 pm to 11:30 pm.
